According to Rolling Stone, the former Sonic Youth guitarist will issue his fifth solo album, Rock n Roll Consciousness, on April 28. Moore and band will be touring at various times throughout the year, including a brief North American run in May. Moore is joined by his current backing band: My Bloody Valentine bassist Deb Googe, guitarist James Sedwards and Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley. The songs’ lyrics were penned by poet Radio Radieux, with the exception of the first single, “Smoke of Dreams.” The song’s video is a moody, impressionistic trip through New York city that builds in intensity along with the music. Moore co-produced the new five-song disc with Paul Epworth, known for his work with pop stars like Adele and Rihanna.
