The last step in the wig-making process for me is to cut and style it to finish it off. How did you start WhatWigs? I pull a lot of inspiration from current and also older trends. It’s essentially the same thing except one client is breathing and one is just a styrofoam head. It’s a lengthy commitment for making each wig. After that I will color the hair, which depending on the color can take a full day. Where do you look for inspiration? To my surprise, I made it in time and to this day it’s still one of my favorite projects I’ve ever done. I start off with either a bleach blonde wig or a natural black wig, depending on the desired lightness or darkness of the final product. Any fun client stories you can share? After it’s been colored, I will then go in and customize the hairline to make it look as natural as possible and really give the WhatWig illusion. That evening, I spent all night sewing it together and then drove it up to LA that morning with the heat on full blast in the middle of summer so it would dry.
